My first appointment today is a lady, mid 40’s, divorced, educated, and her long term goal is a monogamous, long term relationship.
She said “I can see myself living with someone but I am not sure about getting married again.”
I said “With your scores, you are compatible with a man who most likely would agree with you. Also, marriage is not the preferred option it used to be, especially as people get older.”
She was married for over 20 years and met a man right out of her marriage that she dated for the last three years.
She said “I don’t like the idea of dating a bunch of men and I don’t want to waste time meeting men I am not interested in. I like that you meet with everyone personally and I have been curious about what it would be like to work with a matchmaker.”
She enjoys tennis, Zumba, running, yard work, cooking, dining out, bookstores, concerts, spending time with her family and friends, and traveling.
She said “I have a big family and we get together often for birthdays, holidays and special occasions. We can get a little rowdy so I need someone who can go with the flow and have fun with us.”
She liked my profile test and what it told me about her.
She said “This is great information to know about someone else before you even meet him. The one score that matters the most to me is the temperament score. I DO NOT want to meet a man who has a short fuse. I like my relationships to be as drama free as possible.”
I shared the profiles of a few men I think are good matches for her and we agreed on the first man she will meet.
She said “He sounds perfect. What happens if you get the right on the first match? Can I get a refund for the matches I haven’t used?”
I said “First, I put you “on hold” and we see if it works. If it does, that’s worth every penny you paid. If not, you become active and I start matching you again.”
She said “OK, Donna, my love life is in your hands. My sister is going to be thrilled that I have someone to help me. She says my “picker” is broken.”
I said “Tell her my picker has been fine tuned with 25 years of matchmaking experience.”
My second appointment is a man, early 40’s divorced, his long term goal is marriage and children.
I interviewed him ten years ago and he was surprised I still had his profile. It was fun to have him take the test ten years later and see how little his scores changed.
He said “One of the reasons I decided to call you again was because I thought about your test during my marriage and wondered if our scores would have been compatible.”
He said “I have been trying the online services. It was taking too much time and there was so much gaming playing. I am not getting any younger and I would love to be married and have kids.”
He does not have any children from his first marriage.
He said “That was another way we were incompatible. Although she said she wanted to have children, she changed her mind.”
He plays ice hockey, runs, bikes, enjoys spectator sports and coaches young kids in sports.
I think he would be a wonderful father and I am glad he decided to call me a second time.
