My first appointment today is a lady, early 40’s, divorced, educated, self employed, and her long term goal is finding the right man.
She said “The right man could be a husband, a lifelong companion, a live in lover, what matters is that he is the right man.”

She usually dates men who are younger than her but she hates the “cougar” label.
She said “Men date women who are much younger than themselves and they don’t have a label for that. I don’t want to be labeled a “cougar”. I don’t like the connotation that comes along with it. I date men I like and find attractive, their age does not matter.”

On a scale of “0” to “10” she is a “4” in temperament, very direct and straight forward.
She said “I am so tired of all the BS I hear from men. If you like me, say you like me. If you don’t, don’t worry about hurting my feelings. Don’t say you will call, then don’t call. Don’t put me off with BS excuses. I know I am assertive and that turns some men off. I want a man who understands that I am assertive and he can take it, and like it.”
I started laughing and she said “WHAT?”
I said “Geez, you make me sweat just listening to you.”
She said “If you weren’t trying to be politically correct, you basically just told me that my temperament score tells you I’m a bitch.”
I said “OK, then I will say there is someone for everyone and some guys like your temperament.”
She said “You won’t say I am a bitch.”
I said “No, I won’t.”
She said “That’s OK, but I want you to tell the men you match me with I am not a wimp.”
I said “Your score will tell them you are not a wimp.”

After a bit of a rocky start to the interview, she opened up and told me what she really wants.
She said “I will give my heart and soul to the right man. I don’t think I have ever been in love and I want to know what that feels like. I have always taken care of myself but I would gladly respond to a man who wants to take care of me.”

Some interviews are more personal than others, and this was definitely one of those interviews.
This lady is fit, smart, successful, very bright and what you see, is what you get.

She enjoys hiking, concerts, skiing, kayaking, travel, reading, and spending time with her family and friends.

After she signed the contract she said “You got your hands full with me, Donna.”
I said “I love a challenge, but I think the same thing is true of you as with most people I interview, you just haven’t met the right man.”
She said “You are f—in Pollyanna.”

It only takes one right one!

When I left my office yesterday and I was walking to the parking lot I heard “Hey, Donna!” I turned around and this couple walks up to me.
He said “I told Carol, I think that’s Donna.”
I did not immediately recognize them but he proceeded to tell me they had been married for 10 years so I assumed I matched them. He told me his name and I realized who they were although he had shaved his head, and looked every different. She looked the same. He joked about how he thought he would keep her for another ten years and she thanked me for introducing them. It made me think about the fact that there are at least 700 people in this town who are married because I decided to become a matchmaker and start a dating service. Good feeling…really good feeling!

To be continued……
