My first appointment today is a man, mid 40’s, ABS (always been single), his long term goal is marriage and children. His sister referred him to me. She Google dating services in Colorado springs, and by process of elimination, mine being the only one with any longevity, she sent him to my website. He has a good job, he is tall enough and nice looking but he just purchased new carpeting and he is going to have to wait awhile to invest in my service. I am never surprised anymore by how long it takes someone to make their personal life a priority because I work with plenty of clients in their late 30’s and early 40’s who have always been single and are looking to have children. However, I cannot help but wonder what happened between when I was 19 and if you weren’t married you were practically an old maid, and today, when someone in their mid 40’s thinks new carpet is more of a priority than getting married and having a family. Maybe it is just the difference of 45 years, but I have to go back to the reality that people are going to be going to their children’s college graduations and getting their AARP cards in the mail at the same time. I am beginning to wonder if I need to change that to high school graduations.
My second appointment is a lady, mid 50’s, divorced after a very long term marriage, her long term goal is a serious, committed relationship, and probably not marriage. This is another trend I see after 25 years of matchmaking. Marriage is not the end all, be all preference anymore, even for traditional people. Many of my clients in their 50’s, 60’s and even 40’s, are shying away from marriage and preferring to live together, or maintain separate residences. Family is very important to her, but marriage is not.
She is very petite and cute as a button. No one would guess her to be in her mid 50’s. She is spiritual, as opposed to religious, and her interests include walking her dogs, hiking, dancing, live music, concerts and travel. She would love to go back to Hawaii with someone.
Her boss was a client of mine years ago and he referred her to me. She is very sweet, the one personality quality that men request more than any other, and I have some great matches for her.
