My first appointment today is a man, early 60’s, divorced, grown kids, retired, and his long term goal is a serious relationship, possibly marriage. He said “I don’t really see why it would be desirable to be married, but it’s possible.” He has been retired for several years but he is very active in volunteer work, mentoring, fund raising and managing his investments. He is close to his children and grandchildren, and takes trips often to visit them. He has two passions, golf and travel. It is not s show stopper if a lady does not golf and he would be happy to teach a willing partner. He said “The last lady I dated did not golf when I met her but she was eager to learn and did quite well.” Their relationship ended a couple of years ago and she is in a relationship with another man but they all get together to golf occasionally. He has traveled extensively and wants to go to Peru with someone special. He enjoys gambling and Vegas. He said “I know there are ladies who want nothing to do with gambling and I don’t want to be with someone who gives me a hard time about it. There are plenty of things to do in Vegas besides gambling and I enjoy the fine restaurants, the shows, and the spas.” I said “I think there are many ladies who would enjoy that lifestyle, and the ones that don’t, you won’t meet.” His age preference for a lady is “OPEN”. I said “What if I have a good match for you and she is 65? He said “That’s fine.” I said “70”? He said “I can see where you are going with this, so let’s say 65.” He agreed, however, if he is attracted to her, age would not matter. He said “If she appreciates my lifestyle and I am attracted to her, I want to meet her. And, if she likes to golf and travel, that would be most excellent.” Most excellent, now there’s something to strive for.
Feedback from a lady who met her first match on Saturday. “I saw him as soon as I walked through the door. We made eye contact, smiled, and walked towards each other. I’m thinking this is just like in the movies. I reached out to shake his hand and he shook my hand with two hands. I said “You must be John.” He said “And you must be the woman of my dreams.” I said “You’re kidding?” She started to laugh and said she was kidding. The man I matched her with is a client I know very well and he talked her into saying all that because he loves to play jokes on me and he doesn’t get away with it anymore. I can see it coming a mile away so he got her to do his dirty work. There was much more to the story she was suppose to tell me but she started laughing and I knew immediately what was happening. In spite of that, or maybe because of that, they had a great first meeting and have already made plans to get together again.
I made nine matches today. I always enjoy the idea that 18 people will meet sometime soon and, until today, they did not even know this person existed.
