I have had VERY busy week so far and I am going to do a daily dairy on Saturday to profile all the new clients from Tuesday, Wednesday, today, and Saturday. I am taking my Dad and brother to the airport tomorrow for their trip to Florida and I have spent as much time as possible this week out at my Dad’s. My nine years of care giving are over and my brother is taking over at a very tough time. Today we were talking about how much oxygen Dad needs for the trip and I asked what happens if he runs out of oxygen. Dad said “If I run out of oxygen I will die on the plane and everyone will watch because it is not every day you get to see someone die.” His spirit is good and his sense of humor definitely helps. Actually, if he runs out of oxygen, which is unlikely, they will let him use the oxygen on the plane. It is very complicated to fly with someone who is on oxygen and my brother has taken all the necessary steps so everything should go fine. One of my clients works for a nonprofit dog rescue program and he has volunteered to take care of Dad’s dog until we can determine whether or not Dad can come back to Colorado. I am so grateful to this client because I know Sammy, my Dad’s dog, will be well cared for and the dog was the last thing we had to take care of before the move could happen. I work with so many clients and friends who have gone through what I am going through with their parents and I am very grateful for all their support and suggestions. This is one of those times where I have to say I know this has nothing to do with matchmaking but it has everything to do with life and tonight I am very grateful for family, the brother who has stepped up to the plate, and the father I will dearly miss.
