The surgery went well. The doctor was very happy with the way my Dad tolerated the procedure and with the results. My dear friend, Yvonne, stayed with me for the last few hours and went into ICU with me to visit my Dad after the surgery. He was as feisty as ever and not in much pain. I just spoke with his nurse and she said “Your Dad is a doll, I love him.” I said “Take a ticket and get in line.” As long as he has a will to live I am going to do everything I can to help him. There have been some amazing moments in the last few days. I was trying to situate my chair to be in a good position to talk to him this morning before the surgery, and when I finally got it where I wanted it he said “Now we can have that Father/Daughter talk we never had about the birds and the bees.” A nurse walked in at that exact moment and we all burst out laughing. As far as life experiences go, I would not trade these times for anything.
