My first appointment today is a very delightful lady, late 40’s, divorced, educated, and her long term goal is marriage. She is just starting to date after a long term marriage has ended. When I asked her if she had any regrets about her marriage ending she said “Oh, no!” I could tell she meant it, and after she shared her story I was reminded that sometimes divorce is a good thing. She is happier now than she has been for many years and there is peace and calm in her home again. She was two kids, one in college and one starting college, and they are her first priority. She said “I have the most wonderful, awesome kids, they are my greatest joy.” In the space of a one year she has divorced and will be an empty nester in June. She is excited about all the changes and looking forward to making her personal life a priority. I know I said this just recently about another lady, but this lady is also incredibly young looking for her age and very petite and fit. She is active and especially enjoys racquetball, hiking and would love to learn ballroom dancing with someone. She grew up near Red Rocks and has gone to many concerts there, and hopes to go to many more. She loves a man who is chivalrous and cannot remember the last time a man held a door open for her, or pulled out her chair, or helped her with her coat. It is interesting to me that women always seem surprised when a man is a gentleman, and the ones who still are definitely get noticed. She wants a man who is calm, cool, and collected to share the rest of her life.

My second appointment is a lady, early 50’s, widowed, very successful, not only in her personal life, but also her career. Her long term goal with the right person is marriage. She was married to a wonderful man who loved and adored her and she loved and adored him, for almost 30 years. I am always quick to say how lucky someone is to know what a good relationship feels like because they won’t settle for less as they move on in their personal life. She agreed. She enjoys the performing arts, music, antiques, football, history, gardening, walking her dogs, and would look forward to traveling with someone special. She is absolutely beautiful and has always been a larger lady. She is most comfortable with a man who is at least her size or larger, which is true of most ladies. She said “I have always been this size and I am very comfortable with who I am.” I said “Then we will find a man who is comfortable with who you are.” She has a great sense of humor and, even in between some tears, she found something humorous to say. She said “You probably think I am not ready to date because I am still emotional.” I said “You were married for almost 30 years, I think you can cry whenever you want to.” I really like this lady, she is so humble, down to earth, and has a lot to offer to a relationship. She deserves a lot in return.
